Neighborhood Vitality Program Update (12/11/07)

The City of Garland has rejected The Retreat's request for funds from the Vitality Grant / Neighborhood Improvement funds on the grounds that our neighborhood has private streets.  According to City of Garland officials, grant money can not be used for privately owned properties with no public (access) easement.  This was not made clear in the stipulations on the grant application.

The Grounds and Maintenance  Committee's #1 goal is to have a sign at the entrance  The funds for the improvements will now, by necessity, have to come from our HOA monies.  We will be scaling down the original landscape plan and improvements will be made each year as funds are available.  We want to thank everyone in the neighborhood for your patience and will have our signage as soon as possible.  If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at vshine1@verizon.net
